Walk this way: England Coast Path opens a new section in Cumbria

The latest instalment of the England Coast Path has recently opened along the beautiful Cumbria shoreline, completing the Copeland section of the trail.
This new section begins at Silecroft and comes to an end at Green Road Railway Station, dipping into both the Lake District National Park and Duddon Estuary
Visitors can expect to walk through beaches, sand dunes, saltmarshes and the historic town of Millom en route, with fantastic views over the Irish sea and of the Lake District Mountains.

What’s more, the trail will be accessible for everyone, including wheelchair-users and those with limited mobility.
Gill Haigh of Cumbria Tourism said: “The opening of this latest 11-mile stretch of the England Coast Path is wonderful news for all those who want to experience the stunning beauty of Cumbria’s coastline.
“Many visitors to our county miss out on all that the coastal areas have to offer by heading straight towards the popular central Lake District locations. This new path will encourage more people to get out and enjoy the wonderfully varied and beautiful landscapes around Millom and the Duddon Estuary.”
Once completed, the England Coast Path will become a new National trail and be the longest continuous walking trail in the world at 2,700 miles in length.
