Days 2-3: Delhi
Explore this vibrant, bustling city – you will receive a full day tour of both Old and New Delhi. Comprising seven ancient cities, Delhi is home to a myriad of styles and architectures between the 11th and 20th centuries. Begin your tour with a cycle rickshaw ride, weaving through the streets of Old Delhi, visiting the Red Fort, built in the 1600s and a palace of the old Mughal Empire. You will also visit Raj Ghat, the memorial site of Gandhi (where he was assassinated in 1948), as well as India's largest mosque: the architectural masterpiece Jama Masjid. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of Chandni Chowk, one of Old Delhi's most bustling and colourful markets.
In New Delhi, built by the British in the 1920s, you will be able to enjoy the huge boulevards, government buildings, large open green spaces and well-kept gardens. New Delhi remains the capital of India since George V transferred it from Calcutta in 1911. Visit Qutub Minar, a tower over 70m in height, and the spectacular Humayun's Tomb, one of the best buildings to showcase early Mughal architectural style, and often considered the Taj Mahal's prototype. During your tour, you will visit India Gate, an impressive monument evoking images of the Arc de Triomphe. It commemorates the Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for Britain during the First World War.
Day 4: Delhi to Agra
Board the Maharajas Express at Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi, the starting point of your journey through India's golden triangle. Enjoy a traditional Indian welcome before settling down to a sumptuous dinner as the train makes its way to the city of Agra, home to the world-famous Taj Mahal.

An early start sees you leave the comfort of your luxurious cabin for an incredible sightseeing tour of the UNESCO Heritage listed Taj Mahal, India's enduring monument to love. A champagne breakfast will be served at Taj Khema overlooking the Taj Mahal before the option of further touring in Agra or a return to the train to spend some time relaxing. After a sumptuous lunch on board, you'll head to the majestic Agra Fort for a sightseeing tour following by some shopping or a spa session at a five-star hotel. Return to the train for dinner as you head to your next stop at the Ranthambore National Park.

Rise early for a morning safari in the Ranthambore National Park. If you're lucky you may even catch a glimpse of one of the elusive tigers that make the park their home. Brunch will be served on board as the train winds its way through the countryside towards Jaipur, the pink city of Rajasthan.
On arrival in Jaipur you'll leave the train for a sightseeing tour of this remarkable city, including a visit to the Amber Fort. You may wish to spend the rest of the day exploring Jaipur or why not enjoy an optional visit to a spa or one of Jaipur's fantastic gold courses.
