Located on the Western coast of the Istrian Peninsula, Rovinj was originally an island separated from the mainland by a channel that was filled in 1763. The view of the town is dominated by the Cathedral of St Euphemia whose 60 metre tower punctuates the peninsula. The Rovinj archipelago consists of 13 offshore islands.
