Days 1-2: Gothenburg
Fly to Gothenburg and check in to your hotel for a two-night stay. Located in the city centre, and with a spa and rooftop pool, you'll be ideally situated just a stone's throw from Gothenburg's top attractions. On your doorstep, explore the city's cultural centre, dotted with concert halls, cafés, museums and theatres. Then there ate the arts and craft shops in the old city, along with beautiful parks and botanical gardens, all well worth exploring
Day 3: Villa Sjotorp
Drive along Sweden's scenic West Coast to Ljungskile, a charming area dotted with old fishing villages and rocky outcrops. Check in to Villa Sjotorp, a quaint, typically Swedish country hotel. Serving award-winning food, enjoy sumptuous Swedish fare under a covered terrace, overlooking the gorgeous bay.
Days 4-5: Fjallbacka
Depart and head north to Fjallbacka – a favourite of the renowned Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman. Experience a genuine slice of Swedish coastal life in this idyllic fishing village, with cobbled lanes, boutique cafés and independent shops. Some of the finest seafood on all the west coast can be found in this village – don't miss out.
Days 6-7: Bjertorp Slott
After driving to Bjertrop Slott, check in to the classy, art-nouveau manor house, Bjetorp Slott, and enjoy seasonal gourmet dining. For the golfer, try your hand at the golf course – one of the region's best. For your fix of culture, head to the Saab Museum in Trollhattan, before soaking up the sights of the impressive locks and rapids of the Gota Alv River.
Day 8: Departure
If you aren't extending your journey further, drive back to Gothenburg's international airport in time for your onward flight to the UK.
Explore the epic landscapes of rural Sweden by taking a cruise along the 19th century Gota Canal, which stretches from Gothenburg to Stockholm via an interconnecting series of canals, rivers and lakes.
