Today is full of discovery as you get to grips with ancient Egyptian culture, modern archaeological techniques and some sublime scenery. Gorge on gourmet dining onboard and enjoy a relaxing night’s rest before the odyssey continues to Aswan. Here, you can visit the Temple of Philae on Agilkia Island and hear the fascinating story of how the whole site was transported during the construction of the Aswan Dam. Enjoy another relaxing afternoon on deck, drinking in the sunset with your favourite cocktail in hand. Spend a day immersed in the atmospheric markets of Aswan, touring the city’s historic sites and riding by felucca to explore the local Nubian villages. On day six, begin your journey back up the Nile. Stop at the intriguing Temple of Kom Ombo on your way to discover how the ancient culture worshiped Sobek, the crocodile god – there are few sights so memorable as that of a mummified crocodile. Back on the Sanctuary Sun Boat, experience all the splendour of a traditional Egyptian banquet. Today you’re once again approaching Luxor, and you can enjoy some of the best scenery the banks of this glorious river have to offer. Your Egyptologist takes you to see the interior of Temple of Karnak, the Valley of the Kings (home to Tutankhamun’s burial chamber) as well as the magnificent Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut where the mummified female pharaoh rests today. End your final full day with another enormous feast – the perfect way to digest so many adventures. In the morning, transfer back to the airport to catch the flight home, weighed down with the memories you’ve made.
