This village in Austrian Tirol has only 2,500 residents, so you can expect true Tirolean hospitality and plenty of space should you choose to relax in the mountains of St Anton am Arlberg this summer. During your exploration why not take the time to try these five refreshing experiences:

1. Make use of the walking trails

With more than 300km of footpaths to wander, walkers may often find themselves drinking in those alpine landscapes in tranquil solitude; an opportunity to breathe deep and experience true calm. In fact, exercise in the fresh air at moderate altitudes has been found to boost health and physical well-being, adding to the many reasons to get out there.

2. Learn about the wild flowers

Want to recline and recharge surrounded by flowers? Each July, 20,000 edelweiss grow next to Senn Hut, found by the Wonder Walking Trail, and each year wooden energy loungers are placed at their centre for visitors to enjoy and relax. Whilst here, you can learn all about this special flower and more from Senn Hut’s trained herbalist, with a weekly programme of garden tours planned and the chance to learn about their healing properties.

3. Bike over the mountains

E-bikes are a quick and easy way to get around and an excellent option for those who want to ascend to the higher plateaus (especially for those who might worry about doing it under their own steam!)

There are several sports shops that can help with e-bike rentals so you can pedal around the Tirolean villages, and head out into the mountains.

4. Soothe your muscles at a spa
