Wanderlust will be celebrating 60 years of Jamaican independence next month! Taking place in Birmingham on 4 August from 6-8pm, we'd love for you to join us at our Taste of Jamaica event. Tickets are only £5 and FREE for Wanderlust Club members, but in case you needed anymore convincing, here's five reasons why you should join the party...

The event is called a 'A Taste of Jamaica' for a reason. Make sure you arrive with an empty stomach as we will be serving only the finest Jamaican cuisine! What’s on the menu, you ask? Sip on rum cocktails or a beer, and tuck into some tantalising dishes including peppered shrimp skewers, jerk chicken drumettes, Jamaican cocktail patties, pumpkin soup, salt fish fritters and vegetarian fritters. Yum!

2. You'll learn everything you need to know about Jamaica

Prepare to be inspired as we spoil you with our incredible line-up of speakers. Wanderlust’s very own Lyn Hughes will be taking part, having virtually just stepped off the plane from her week-long Jamaican trip. She will be sharing tales of her adventures, alongside the head of the Jamaica Tourist Board Torrance Lewis. Kyle Mais, General Manager at the Jamaica Inn will also be discussing his passions for Jamaican nature and wildlife, while Josef Forstmayer –  an Austrian who made this special Caribbean country his home – will be spilling his top travel secrets.

3. You could even win a luxury Jamaican trip!

We will also be giving away an incredible four-night luxury stay in Jamaica, courtesy of the Jamaica Inn and Round Hill Hotel and Villas (flights not included).

4. You'll be entertained all night

Afterwards, attendees can continue the fun and gain free entry to a Jamaica event next door, where you can celebrate and watch a screening of the Commonwealth Games – taking place in Birmingham! It's the perfect time to experience the buzz of the city as it hosts this exciting event.

5. The venue is in the perfect location

Just a five-minute walk from Birmingham New Street train station, the event is being held at the Glee Club Birmingham – a fantastic venue in the heart of the city, with plenty of places to eat, shop and stay nearby. Those arriving from London will only have a 1 hour 30 minute train journey from Euston Station.
