Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?I think maybe mountain. I love that feeling of stillness, strength and calm that mountains emanate.
What was your first great travel experience? My first summer au pairing in Italy was one of the hardest times of my life. I had only ever been on travelling with friends before (including a history buff dream week backpacking in Prague) but I was entirely on my own, no language skills to speak of (I'm now VERY good at non-verbal communication) and thrown in the cultural deep end. It was difficult and fantastic and I caught the bug. I spent the next year travelling in between university terms.
What has been your favourite journey?Thailand was exactly what I thought it would be. Paradise on a motorbike on Koh Samui island, culture and spirituality in Bangkok and Songkran festival to top it all off. The food, people and landscapes were incredible.
What are your Top 5 places worldwide?Hong Kong, Ghent, South Tyrol, Koh Samui, Amsterdam
Recommend a special place to stayMoonhut, Mai Nam Beach, Koh Samui, Thailand. A secluded beach on an island that has been touched by tourism but still retains its rustic beauty. The friendliest people in the world. Heart warming memories.
Which three items do you always pack?A notebook, a pencil, a moisturiser.
Which passport stamp are you proudest of?Hong Kong
Which passport stamp would you most like to have?Nepal
Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?Waking up in the middle of the night and sitting wherever I am - beach/mountains/woods etc and writing down little notes that I then pack away and read again when I'm in the next place to remember the feeling.
Window or aisle?Window. Clouds never get boring.
