The world according to sam_j_young

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Mountain (I think) - nothing like the fresh crisp air and amazing views plus the sense of achievement when you reach a summit.

What was your first great travel experience?
Three week school adventure to Peru when I was 16 (with World Challenge). I spent 2 years raising the money to go, and we were given the freedom to manage finances and arrange all travel plans ourselves... Only problem is it left me with itchy feet ever since!

What has been your favourite journey?
Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp in the Nepalese Himalayas - so many wonderful people to meet, amazing views and even the food was good!

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Huayna Picchu (looking down through the clouds to Machu Picchu, Peru), Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia), Taj Mahal (Agra, India), Chitwan National Park (seeing wild rhino from the back of an elephant, Nepal), Monte Carlo (looking over the harbour from the palace at night - where I proposed to my wife).

Recommend a special place to stay
Fishmore Hall Hotel - Ludlow. Superb luxury rooms, great views and delicious food!

Which three items do you always pack?
Camera (its part of my travelling experience), a squash ball (useful as a sink plug), wet wipes!

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Malawi - it reminds me of one of the amazing country with such friendly people.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Vietnam - ever visiting Thailand in 2001 I have wanted to go back to South East Asia and Vietnam looks like a very interesting country.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
A cocktail at sunset - and the feeling of pure relaxation!

Window or aisle?
I'd like to say window to see the sight, but it has to be aisle with my long legs!
