Travel C.V. hmoat 01

About me: My Dad used to throw me in the back of his Morris Minor and drove all over Ireland. We'd have 4 hours in the car, an hour to eat and have a runaround. Then it would be another 4 hours home. Mad. But it didn't put me off travellling - quite the reverse! Also love writing. I've won The Telegraph Just Back competition and was runner-up in the British Guild of Travel writers competition. Have had a taste of success and want more!

The world according to hmoat 01

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Mountain - I like to have the world at my feet.

What was your first great travel experience?
First visit to the Alps, Switzerland. Everything seemed so different from Ireland - the smells (of strong tobacco), the colour of the Alpine rivers etc. Even Africa didn't have the same impact on my senses as that first trip to Switzerland.

What has been your favourite journey?
Coast to coast. Walking across England from the Irish Sea to the North Sea was something special.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Tofino, Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Barcelona, Stonetown, Zanzibar, The Olympic Peninnsula, Washington State.

Recommend a special place to stay
Any State Park accommodation in the States (Cabins and yurts in amazing locations at a snitch)

Which three items do you always pack?
Book, netbook, mobile.

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
East African (Tanzanian, Zanzibar, kenya)

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Nepal

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Teabags

Window or aisle?
window - having the world at your feet again
