About me: I have been in Spain for two years and love it. That does not stop me from looking elsewhere though! Europe is my main destination, there is so much to see on our own doorstep that we sometimes forget. I blog and write about my experiences. http://citychronicles-deborahcater.blogspot.com.es/

The world according to DeborahCater

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
I live up a mountain from where I can espy the sea. It is the sea which calls me more, the endless horizon, though riding on it isn't fun.

What was your first great travel experience?
Inter-railing around Europe cramming 9 cities into 15 days. It was hectic, we missed places we should have seen, but it was a wonderful experience.

What has been your favourite journey?
Driving from England to Spain, to my new home. Just me and the dogs, enjoying the scenery through France and Spain. Three days of quiet solitude and reflection.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Prague, Malaga, the Piazza Navona in Rome, Mount Maroma in Axarquia from where I can stare out to sea and sometimes catch sight of Africa, Istanbul.

Recommend a special place to stay
Citadella Hotel, Budapest. Marvellous views across Budapest from the top of Gellert Hill. I stayed in the dormitory which is only 10euros per night. History, views and exercise all in one.

Which three items do you always pack?
Camera, sunglasses and a notebook/pen combo.

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Turkey. I was on my way to Istanbul from Bulgaria and it involved leaving the train in the middle of the night to get the visa and stamp. Nothing like a midnight jaunt across the tracks.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Difficult question - it's a toss up between Libya and Iraq to see the remains of the ancient civilizations.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Finding somewhere that sells 'English' tea. I am in seventh heaven when I taste a good tea.

Window or aisle?
Aisle on a plane, window on a train. At nearly six foot I want to stretch my legs on the plane whilst on a train I want to see the scenery unobscured.
