The world according to 1_giant_leap

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Mountain (but will always feel at home by the sea)

What was your first great travel experience?
My first proper 'great travel exprience' would have to be in 2007, going for the first time to South America - trekking in the Peruvian Andes

What has been your favourite journey?
The Classic Inca Trail - a big build up, much anticipation. First, to actually register and book the trek. Second, adjusting to the altitude in Cusco. And finally, actually doing the trek knowing that we would end up at the 'lost city' of Machu Picchu.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Urubamba Valley (Peru); Wadi Rum desert (Jordan); Dalmacija (Croatia); Provence (France); Alps.

Recommend a special place to stay
Rummana campsite, Dana Nature Reserve, Jordan. What's there? You, no cars or cities, and amazing landscapes as far as the eye can see!

Which three items do you always pack?
Phrase book, a good novel, peanut butter (for hunger emergencies)

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Jordan or Machu Picchu

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Botswana, for the Okavango Delta

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Buying a newspaper from every country I visit and pretending once I get home that I can read them

  • Our trip to Jordan (part 1)

Following the advice of the Wanderlust travel supplement on Jordan, my girlfriend ("Steph26") and I decided to go ahead and book a flight. We went there over Easter, and stayed for 10 night
