Only four hours left and no-one's posed the question - so, where are you all off to next month? We're off to Chamonix for a friend's 40th birthday next week (the extravagance!) and then probably Paris with a friend who's over from the US after that. Will also now be going to Destinations on Saturday, I hope - hurray!

...but wasn't Desties clashing with your birthday? Good news for us if you are making it....MrsG just might make it too if she makes it back from Guttters-hell in Germany February - well I'm packing my PhD student off to Kenya on Monday and will not be going with him for the mo'.... will be combing my diary for an opening sometime later in the month. Instead, Norfolk and the R Yare beckon for now, sampling the river during the days and the Fat Cat during the eves. Plus I am also acting tourguide this month, escorting a Swede around Hampshire and maybe an Oirishman around Greenwich....

I was thinking of going to Tangier but decided to follow BB's advice, so now I'm off to Granada for a long weekend at the end of the month, any tips appreciated. Unfortunately I can't make Desties, it would have been great to meet you all. FT I sent you an email, the freebie link seemed to work what day do you want for Desties, failing that I can post my complimentary ticket from the mag to DrG, Jon PM me your address ocelus@live.co.uk

Nothing very much in February, for us it's all about getting the boat ready for a sail after nearly two years rotting in the marina. We're half way there, so should be good to go in March. Having said that, the big cheeses in Ahmedabad have invited my Dad over at the end of February, to help advise them on their bid for a place on the Unesco World Heritage list. (Pretty brave of them since he's been known to tell various parts of India that they need to pull their socks up before he'll recommend them.) So we'll spend a few days there; it's a new place for us, so should be interesting.

Helen; I love it!! Wonder how many know where you are going?? The G man better figure it out if he is gonna try and escort an Oirishman around Greenwich - now that IS the best Desties offer after Kev Ocelus sorting out my freebie tkts for Saturday. God, am I an auld cheapstake? what can I do to sweeten ye up before I am met with scowls? And Sophie, you're gonna make it - brilliant! I want six and a half private minutes to get lowdown on how to fit in 10 trips plus per year!

Hi Ocelus, if you're intending to visit the Alhambra Palace in Granada, you may wish to get your ticket in advance from http://www.alhambra-tickets.es The site is a tad slow so you'll need to be patient. The Alhambra organisers release 2000 tickets daily for face to face purchase, but last week when I was there the queues were very long - there were quite a lot of tourists even for January. Entry to the Nasrid Palace is controlled - they give you a time and you can't enter before that. There is a lot of restoration going on in the centre of the palace but it won't detract from what you see. Your whole ticket will be either for several hours for a morning or afternoon visit so there is a lot of time to mooch around the gardens and the towers. The Albaicin, the old Moorish quarter outside the Alhambra palace, is very quaint, but a bit dead at this time of year. There's more action in the centre of town, with lots of bar/restaurants, etc. where you'll get a free tapas with your drink. The cathedral in the centre is worth a look. Oh, it's v.cold walking around the Alhambra - heavy snow still on the Sierra Nevada - so wrap up warm. Enjoy your visit. Jean

I'm off to Cambodia at the end of the month for a conference, but will revisit Angkor Wat while I'm there, even though I have reservations about what tourism is doing to it. I'll also be adding a few days in Kuala Lumpur (mostly for the shopping) and some time up north in Nagano where I'll finally be able to photograph Japan's famous snow monkeys.

I'm going to Jordan at the end of this month. Very excited - especially having seen the recent forum posts on Jordan. Planning to go Madaba, Dana, Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman and Jerash. Have a great time in Chamonix! My partner's sister is a tour guide out there, and I'm getting lots of excited tweets about fresh powder, so I'm sure it'll be beautiful.
