It's July... where are you off to this month?

I'm not quite sure where June went! But, here we go, another month. I think I'll be stuck at Basecamp Wanderlust all month (but there's worse places to be). Where are YOU heading?

I'm off to India again, 1 week work, and 12 days play. Will be my first time in India during monsoon which should be interesting...am off to Aurangabad for the Ajanta/Ellora caves...and then up to Madya Pradesh for some smaller off the beaten track places like Mandu, Maheshwar & Omkareshwar.

    Hey Mattyboy!
India in the monsoon is very lively; there are lots of festivals and celebrations. Indians regard it as an auspicious time and, although it's wet, it's still lively. We've stayed much later this year and it has been worth it ... for the mangosteens! Yes, now is when that most prized "Queen of fruits" is available (had six between us yesterday). I haven't been to any of the places you list above, but am thinking of visiting Aurangabad for the Ajanta/Ellora caves in December. I'll be eagerly awaiting your Just Back report.
Take care, I'll wave from the plane as we pass!

Nowhere. Sadly. I will be commuting to Oxford Circus to do a Trinity TESOL course from next week, but I live in Kingston, and I have tickets to visit Hampton Court Flower Show on Thursday with my dear mother, and I might well view the cycle race/ trials for the Olympics, the course of which goes through Kingston twice!

Nowhere as we're getting a puppy at the weekend. I do have parents that will look after the dog in the future, but not while it may ruin the carpet! So no travelling for a while :(

Eastern France - Alps around the Chamonix area, then further south to the gorge du Verdon - then perhaps across to the Millau viaduct before heading north again ...  Plans are flexible, so if anyone's got any suggestions ...?

Mattyboy - the caves at Ajanta and Ellora are wonderful!  When you  go in the first one at Ajanta you won't be able to see a thing.  A torch is useful for picking out the detail, but if you wait, your eyes will adjust.  Many of the paintings are heavily repaired but still amazingly beautiful.  The two sites are quite different - and I'm not sure which of them I preferred.

Get well soon, Howellsey!  (And congratulations!)

    Commiserations, ElliFry and Sophie.

Liz - be careful what you wish for.  There's cold and cold!  And sitting her on the second ofg July wearing three layers, I can't help feeling this is the wrong cold for the time of year.
As for travel - Hampton Court Flower show later this week, and the Globe a couple of days later.  Then my wife and I are driving to the north coast of Scotland and back.  And then I'mm off to Guatemala to get away from the Olympics - not the idealest time of year but I'm getting excited!

It's nearly the school holidays! Time for the biggest trip of the year, which this year is Cape Town to Joburg via Namibia, Botswana, Zim and Zam. And then at the end of the holiday, a quick trip over to the Big Apple, been there lots before but never in summer. Looking forward to seeing a baseball game.
