    Car hire, Venice to Split

Hi, I wonder if anyone has any advice on a car hire firm that will let you pick up a car in Venice and drop off in Split? For some reason, it seems to be a journey that none of the car hire companies allow and the only other way seems to be a long and expensive train/ferry journey. Any advice greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Val

Your best bet is the big international companies- I believe Hertz may allow one way rental into neighbouring countries. Check out my website www.driverabroad.com for more info on driving in Italy and Croatia and all the options for renting cars in both countries. Obviously expect to pay a substantial one way drop off fee if they do allow this.Good luck!

As previously mentioned, car hire will be really expensive.  I did the journey the opposite way round, from Split to Ancona by overnight ferry and then a train up to Venice.  It was really straightforward.  The cabins on the ferry were clean and comfortable.  The food looked pretty dire however, but we had been warned about this and took our own.
