    Attention Wanderlust Towers!

When we were waiting at Gatwick recently we had booked into the No 1 Traveller's lounge to treat ourselves.  What did I see when I walked through the door but a pile of Lonely Planet magazines.  I looked at one to pass the time and found it a pale copy of Wanderlust, the format didn't seem much different to me.
Have you missed a trick here, how about getting Wanderlust into the airline lounges?  Lots of people were reading the Lonely Planet mag.

Mmmm.... I've had similar thoughts R Angela! I've found old copies of Wanderlust on a battered leather trunk in a tented camp in the Zambian bush, on a verandah in Singapore, and in a bar in the Keys, but it's almost impossible to find at UK airports and certainly European airports. But there must be a financial reason eh?

But isn't that part of its charm? It's not for everyone...

Funny enough Angela, we recently had a meeting with No 1 Travellers Lounge people recently, and both Wanderlust and Unique Honeymoons magazine will probably be appearing in the lounges any time soon. We have been discussing whether we should get Wanderlust into a few lounges and places. It's expensive to do - and we don't have the deep pockets of the BBC who own Lonely Planet.
On the other hand, Sophie has a good point! Let's face it, Wanderlust is not aimed at the mass market and would never want to be.
Having said that, if there is somewhere you think Wanderlust should be, let us know.
    Thanks all.

Didn't realise Lonely Planet was owned by the BBC!  However I still think it is a pale imitation, I remarked at the time that there were a few differences but not many.
Yes Sophie does have a point, my old copies find their way into the local private hospital's waiting room, you would think that they could fund it the prices they charge!

Now come on Angela, Lyn, it looks like Sophie is on the right track; she remembers the 6th FT commandment:
You will scorn all pretenders vigorously and heap them upon a burning Thorn Bush.
Most especially a place to burn Lonely Planet. Angela, Angelaaaaaaaaaaah! What do I hear? Are you actually saying that that this, this airporty-loungey-abouty-place, as well as promoting the breaking of the 1st Commandment; You will have but one travel God, Wanderlust, actually promote the work of one who would DEFILE our own holy book with a "pale copy of Wanderlust, the format didn't seem much different to me....."

Oh, how I weep.....or is that just sunstroke here in Slanchev Briag (Sunny Beach) where the temp today was 29 and tmrw is given to be 34 degrees. (sings)  I'm going back to Fintown where the summer rain's a soft one...!!

Er ... I hate to contradict the Almighty One ... but in my list that's the 4th Commandment you've quoted about scorning all pretenders.  But I agree, the Lonely Planet magazine is a pale copy.

Oops, I was in such a holiday mood apparently that I totally forgot the commandments, shame on me!  I should not have defiled my fingers!  Many apologies FT, hope you got the card.
