The budget airline cabin baggage guide

Popping off for a cheeky city break during the year? Don't get caught out by excessive cabin baggage fees!

With news that Ryanair are paying staff bonuses for catching out  passengers with oversized and overweight hand luggage, we've compiled this handy guide for checking the limits set by all of the leading budget airlines.

Just because BA let you on with your bag doesn't mean Ryanair will. Each airline set their own rules and will gleefully charge you extra if your cabin baggage doesn't conform. Some of these charges will effectively double or triple your fare. All of a sudden that bargain city break becomes decidedly more expensive.

We've also included a direct link to each airlines baggage page just in case they sneakily change things again!

    Yep, useful stuff, but because I'm carrying stuff back and forth all the time, I always check just before I fly. They move the rules overnight, at the drop of a hat, and when the wind changes. Nice touch having links to their websites.

    Could the list be a little longer, though? Air India, Emirates, Singapore. Qantas etc etc
