1. Witches' brooms banned above 150m, Swaziland

Airspace rules were tightened in the southern African kingdom, banning witches from flying above 150 metres in Swazi airspace. Witches breaking the new limit could face a massive R500,000 (£35,487) fine. 

“A witch on a broomstick should not fly above the limit," Sabelo Dlamini, an official at the Swazi civil aviation authority, added helpfully.

2. Goats arrested for damaging police car, India

The Times of India reported that three goats were arrested by police in Chennai and placed in a cage after damaging a brand new police car. Up to 12 goats climbed on the vehicle ‘damaging the wipers and glass and scratching the paint of the bonnet and body.’ 

The 'Poonamallee Three' have so far refused to name their accomplices.

3. Drive-thru sex bays set up next to Italian volcano

Two enterprising business men have set up a set of ‘sex bays’ beside the Solfatara volcano near Naples where visitors can book a parking bay and experience the effects of hydrogen sulfide, a gas claimed to be a ‘natural viagra’. 

Customers are thoughtfully provided with information on safe sex.

4. Chewbacca’s lightsaber seized by airport security

Over zealous security staff at Denver airport in the US confiscated the lightsaber-style walking stick belonging to Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca in Star Wars, and unleashed a storm of fury – and Star Wars-themed punning – in the Twitterverse.

5. Samoa Air introduces ‘XL class’ for passengers

Samoa’s national airline has created a wider row on its aircraft for passengers weighing more that 130kg. 

‘We do it with shirts and clothing and other things,’ said airline chief, Chris Langton, ‘Why not seats?’ 

Passengers on the airline already pay a fixed price per kilo, according to their weight.

6. Indian journalist files report from shoulders of rescued flood victim

TV reporter Narayan Pargaien filed his report from the flood-ravaged north of India atop the shoulders of a helpful local.

Pargaien denies he was exploiting the the guy. Apparently the flood victim ‘wanted to show respect’ because he had never met anyone as important as the journalist before.

Or wearing such nice shoes.
