This exciting journey takes us through the heart and soul of Vietnam and Cambodia—diverse and fascinating countries steeped in ancient traditions and complex history. From bustling cities and colourful markets to isolated highlands and ancient ruins; tranquil lakes and sleepy beaches to wartime history and grand imperial architecture: this journey includes a heady mix of stunning natural beauty and rich culture that you won’t soon forget. Starting in northern Vietnam, we take in the historical monuments and colourful Old Quarter of Hanoi before embarking on a trek and homestay among the rural highland villages of Mai Chau. We visit the Red River Delta’s picturesque Ninh Binh before heading to the coast where we’ll take a luxurious overnight cruise through Halong Bay—a spectacular labyrinth of turquoise waters studded with towering, jungle-clad limestone outcrops. We’ll catch the Reunification Express train south to the elegant imperial city of Hue, making our way south for a few days’ R&R in the laid-back ancient town of Hoi An. We’ll experience the bustling rhythm of Ho Chi Minh City and visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, before heading to the mighty Mekong where we’ll travel upriver to Cambodia. Taking in the major Khmer and French colonial sights of Phnom Pehn, we’ll then head to Siem Reap where we’ll wrap up our journey with two full days exploring the incredible temples and monuments of Angkor.
