Our five day small group trip visits the picturesque village of Andenes in Northern Norway for incredible whale watching and to see the spectacular Northern Lights at night.
During our four-night stay in Andenes, we enjoy daily four-hour whale watching trips, accompanied by marine biologists and our expert naturalist leader. In the winter months, large numbers of herring migrate to Andfjorden, which attracts large groups of orca, together with fin, minke, sperm and humpback whales. On the boat trip, we may also spot white-sided dolphin or possibly white-tailed eagle.
In the evenings, whilst in Andenes, we may also have excellent opportunities to observe the Northern Lights (depending on the weather conditions). Positioned overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this location offers excellent photographic opportunities to capture this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon.
All the whale-watching and evening excursions will be guided by our expert leader, however there are also a number of optional activities you may wish to do during our free time in Andenes.
The full itinerary detail is available on our website.
You should note: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, and boat trips and Northern Lights excursions are inevitably subject to weather conditions. The whale-watching during the itinerary will be conducted from a RIB (rigid inflatable boat), enabling us to get closer to the whales themselves. However, the use of a RIB does require a greater level of fitness as they can be tricky to get into. Every precaution will be taken to make boarding the RIB as easy and as safe as possible.
