Trade along the Silk Road no doubt helped shape the globalised world we live in today, and you can journey through the historic destination with this exclusive Wanderlust tour. One of the key destinations of Silk Road, Uzbekistan has lain at the crossroads of cultures, customs and commerce for over two millennia. Boasting some of the finest Islamic architecture in the region, its rich history is told through its striking mosques and grand mausoleums.
Arriving in Tashkent, we’ll have a tour of the capital’s highlights before taking Uzbekistan’s bullet train to see the iconic edifices of Registan Square in Samarkand. From city hubs to rural life, we’ll then head to the Nuratau Reserve for a remote homestay. Hiking through villages surrounded by views of mountain scenery, the experience offers a mix of natural and cultural highlights. Continuing down the Silk Road, we’ll arrive in Bukhara to explore its UNESCO treasures, considered to be the most complete medieval city in Central Asia.
The last leg of the adventure sees us crossing the red sands of the Kyzylkum Desert to bring us to the legendary city of Khiva. Step back in time whilst we stroll through this historic town, discovering the well-preserved madrasahs and monuments littering the labyrinthine streets of its historic centre. We will then fly back to Tashkent for a final morning, concluding our journey through this timeless destination.
