An ideal ride because Morocco is so completely different from the UK yet just a 3 hr flight away. We’ll collect you from the airport and match you with a horse that’s just right for you. This ride is popular with allour riders (novice to competition level) and is an ideal overseas ridingholiday because the horses are reliable and the price is excellent – much cheaper than riding in England! We created this trail ride to give riders who perhaps haven’t ridden many trails and haven’t ridden much outside the UK a chance to experience an overseas horse riding holiday.

The ride begins at the ranch where the guides introduce the breed, the Barb. This is an ancient breed that traces its heritage back thousands of years: Julius Caesar rode one during his Gallic Campaign. They are quite compact (14.2 to 15.2 hands) but love their work and take care of their rider.

The trail follows tiny paths that lead from beach to beach along the shoreline. We ford several shallow streams, leads around head land sand across bluffs with tremendous views out to sea. Sometimes the coast demands that we ride inland through the adjacent Argan Forests. This is the same tree that produces the valuable Argan Oil used is massage. The trail links Berber villages and remote hamlets together which combine to show you rural Moroccan life with its rich heritage. The horses know the country well and there is the opportunity to use all paces.

In the evenings there’s time to relax while sharing dinner around the campfire. The guides are local people and will tell you about the folklore and history of this area. We sleep in huge Berber tents which are similar to the ones used by the Sahara nomads. There are smaller tents available if you prefer a bit more privacy. All the camp equipment, and your personal baggage is carried in support vehicles, leaving each person to “ride light” – all you carry is camera, water bottle and spare clothes, within your twin saddlebags.

This horse ride is perfect for intermediate riders and advanced; excellent for families with children who are confident. Advanced riders will particularly enjoy the well-schooled, responsive horses.
