Rio de Janeiro - Days 1 - 4

Day 1 - Fly to Rio

Depart on a daytime flight on to Rio de Janeiro, arriving in the evening.

Your guide will take you on a short introductory orientation walk of the surrounding streets and beachfront. You will walk along the promenade of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches in order to gain a feeling of Rio de Janeiro's city life - the people, the beach culture, the apartments of the city's affluent, all that makes up the typical "Carioca" life. This short introduction to Rio (up to one hour) will help with your orientation so that you can feel confident to be on your own afterwards.

Day 2 - Tour of Rio

We begin our tour by visiting the famous Statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain where you can admire spectacular 360° views of the city, tropical forest, granite peaks and bay. From here we visit the bohemian district of Santa Teresa, once home to the rich and famous it's now occupied by galleries, writers, musicians and artists. Our journey continues into the city centre for lunch at one of Rio's oldest coffee shops, after which you visit the Cathedral and travel into the historical district to admire the strong colonial architecture and charming surroundings, whilst taking in the atmosphere.

Day 3 & 4 - At Leisure in Rio de Janeiro

You have the flexibility to persue your own interests, relax or accompany our Tour Leader to visit various places of interest around Rio, there is no set itinerary but decided by the Tour Leader. Additional excursions available.

Iguassu Falls - Days 5-6

Day 5 - Travel to Iguassu Falls

Fly to Iguassu and transfer to a delightful hotel overlooking the falls. The magnificent Iguassu Waterfalls thunder over a wide curve of the Iguazu river set on the border between Brazil and Argentina. The spectacle of the Falls is one of South America's most extraordinary sights; vast torrents of water flow over a myriad of small and large cascades over a length of 2.5 kilometers.

Day 6 - Tour of Iguassu Falls ( Brazilian & Argentian Sides )

Guided excursions to explore the natural beauty and lush tropical surroundings. Walk down to the foot of the Devil's Throat waterfall offers spectacular panoramic views and the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife. Then cross over the border into Argentina to see the falls from another perspective, where you will have a closer view of the individual falls in their lush tropical setting, abundant in wildlife, especially butterflies. You can walk right out to the roaring Devil's Throat waterfall along walkways that afford breathtaking views. This side of the falls is definitely well worth the visit.

Salvador da Bahia - Days 5 - 6

Day 5 - Travel to Salvador da Bahia

Continuing our journey we fly to Salvador and transfer to our hotel. We conduct a short briefing into the surround area, answer any questions and give advice on places of interest. In the afternoon you have the flexibility to pursue your own interests.

Day 6 - Guided City Tour of Salvador

We journey through the cobbled streets lined of Salvador, with splendid colonial houses, which stand as a reminder of a bygone era when Salvador was at the height of its glory in the 18th century. We explore the upper and lower parts of the city, we visit the numerous churches, squares, fortifications and symbols of Salvador's rich diversity of faiths and cultures, as we immerse ourselves into the heart of Brazil's colonial roots from Portuguese and African influences.

Praia do Forte Beach - Days 7-11

Day 7 - Arrival at Praia do Forte Beach

Travel from Salvador da Bahia to Praia do Forte, a charming, tranquil fishing village located 80 km north of Salvador and with lovely beaches, a small old church and a sea turtle protection centre. The streets are now paved and many of the fisherman's houses have been converted into shops, bars, small restaurants, ideal to relax, walk and browse.
