Day 1 - Depart London on your daytime flight to Rio de Janeiro arriving in the evening
On arrival you will be met by your guide and transport to be taken to your hotel. After a short introduction to your surroundings you may go out or take a good night sleep.
Day 2 - Full Day Tour of Rio de Janeiro
Full day tour including Rio's famous landmark, the statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado mountain, granting fabulous views of the city and Guanabara Bay. You will pass through the lush forest of Tijuca, with its tropical trees, waterfalls and pleasant shade, before visiting the old centre of Rio.
Day 3-5 - At Leisure in Rio de Janeiro
Spend the day exploring at leisure. There are many things to do according to your interests.
Day 6 - La Paz
Fly to La Paz where we stay for 2 nights. Spend the afternoon relaxing and acclimatising to the altitude.
Day 7 - Tour of La Paz
Our full day city tour takes us round this bustling city, with its maze of streets and alleyways. We visit the witches' market, stalls full of a colourful array of potions, and continue on to the Moon Valley.
Day 8 - Lake Titicaca
Travel onwards to the magical Lake Titicaca, with its air of serene tranquillity, framed by snow-covered peaks. We skirt the lake, lunch at the pretty village of Copacabana, and continue on to Puno for the night.
Day 9 - Journey from Lake Titicaca to Cusco
Depart for Cusco, passing Andean landscapes of barren land, hot springs, towering mountains, and tiny railway stations. On arrival in Cusco we transfer to our hotel, where we stay for three nights.
Day 10 - Sacred Valley of the Incas
Day trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the Urubamba valley. We visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo, and Pisac with its colourful Sunday market. Return to Cusco late in the afternoon.
Day 11 - Tour of Cusco & nearby Inca sites
Afternoon city tour of Cusco including the mighty fortress and religious site of Sacsayhuamán.
Day 12-13 - Visit Machu Picchu
Train out of Cusco following the beautiful Urubamba River leading us to the breathtaking ruins of Machu Picchu. Stay overnight returning by train to our Cusco hotel in the afternoon of the following day.
Day 14 - Lima city tour
Fly to Lima, and transfer to our hotel. Our afternoon city tour will show us the delights of this colonial capital, its main squares, the Presidential Palace and ornate churches.
Day 15 - Lima & Departure
A visit to the Larco Herrera Museum, housing fine collections of pre-Colombian artefacts. Transfer to the airport for your return flight home, arriving, day 16.
MONTECRISTI TOUR can be arranged in reverse, starting in Lima and staying in Rio de Janeiro at the end.
