Buenos Aires - Days 1 - 3

Day 1 - Overnight travel to Argentina

We depart from London for an overnight flight to Buenos Aires, staying for two nights.

 

Day 2 - Join Group in Buenos Aires

Arriving early in the morning at Buenos Aires, you will be met by your Group Tour Leader and Guide, as well as the other members of the group before being taken to our hotel. We conduct an introductory briefing and there is the opportunity to rest or accompany your Tour Leader on a morning walk. In the afternoon you have the flexibility of persuing your own interests or accompany your Tour Leader to start exploring this picturesque city. In the evening everyone usually meets for a relaxed welcome dinner to get to know each other. Each evening throughout the tour, before dinner, the Tour Leader will give a short meeting at the hotel to prepare for the following day's activities and schedule.

 

Day 3 - City Tour of Buenos Aires

Today we enjoy a charming city tour of Buenos Aires, which takes us to the brightly coloured district of La Boca. Painted in a mish-mash of vibrant primary colours. We continue through the centre, passing the huge 9 de Julio Avenue with its famous obelisk, to visit the Cathedral, and see the Presidential Palace - the Pink House. This area is famous for the diverse architecture, glorious buildings built at the turn of the century, many of them boasting a unique French style.

Mendoza - Days 4 - 5

Day 4 - Walking tour Mendoza

We depart from Buenos Aires on a morning flight to Mendoza, in the heart of Argentina's most renowned wine growing region, where we will stay for two nights. In the afternoon we explore this picturesque city, exploring the old and modern districts to visit the many beautiful plazas, exquisite churches and fine museums. We continue to the General San Martin Park, a historical monument commemorating the Army of the Andes, a military force used to free Chile from the Spanish Empire.

 

Day 5 - Winery visit

Full day excursion into the countryside to visit a winery, where we take a tour of the vineyards and cellars to learn about the production of wine as well as to enjoy the wines. We will have lunch at the beautiful country house.

Santiago - Days 6 - 7

Day 6 - Travel to Santiago de Chile

Today we travel by public bus across the Andes to Santiago de Chile. The bus crosses the border at a high pass over the mountains, and on a clear day you will have fabulous views for miles in every direction. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel, in the afternoon you have the flexibility of persuing your own interests or accompany our Tour Leader to visit various places of interest, there is no set itinerary but decided by the Tour Leader.

 

Day 7 - Excursion to Vina del Mar & Valparaiso

We journey towards the Pacific Ocean, passing the agricultural valleys of Curacavo and Casablanca before reaching Valparaiso, the main port of the country. This brightly coloured city was once the most important maritime destination for trade on the Pacific coast before the Strait of Panama was opened to navigation in 1914. In the afternoon we travel north along the coastline to reach the city of Vina del Mar. This famous seaside city has luscious parks full of huge trees and palms, earning its name 'Garden City'. We will visit the beautiful park Quinta Vergara with its amphitheater, the museum of fine arts and the popular beaches.

Santa Cruz - Day 8

Day 8 - Travel to Santa Cruz

Today we travel through to Santa Cruz, passing through Chile's central wine valleys with the imposing Andes mountains always visible to the east. Upon arrival in our hotel you have the flexibility of perusing your own interests or accompany our Tour Leader, we will either stroll around the town or visit one of the famous local wineries.

Chilean Lake District - Days 9 - 11

Day 9 - Travel to Pucon

Today we travel through to Pucon, where we will stay for three nights to relax and enjoy the Chilean Lake District. Pucon is situated on the shore of lake Villarica, at the foot of a snow-capped volcano and surrounded by temperate forest, making it the ideal destination to relax for a few days or enjoy the many outdoor activities on offer.

 

Day 10 - Scenic Walk

Our Tour Leader will take us on a scenic walk along the shore of the lake, stopping for picnic lunch on the way. 

 

Day 11 - Day at Leisure in Pucon

Today you are free to enjoy Pucon at your own pace, pursuing your own interests or accompany your Tour Leader to visit various places of interest around Pucon, there is no set itinerary but decided by the Tour Leader.

Punta Arenas - Day 12

Day 12 - Fly to Punta Arenas

From Pucon we fly through to Punta Arenas, arriving in the evening for one night. Punta Arenas is located on the shore of the Magellan Strait and is the last Chilean town before the island of Tierra del Fuego.

Torres del Paine - Days 13 - 15

Day 13 - Travel to Torres del Paine

Today we travel north into the Torres del Paine National Park, one of Chile's largest and most visited parks, where we stay at the Lago Grey Hosteria for three nights. The park's towering granite peaks are permanently covered in snow and glaciers melt to form rivers which run through the park into the lakes.

 

Day 14 - Full day excursion Torres del Paine

This is a full day walking excursion to explore Torres Del Paine National. Featuring many beautiful valleys, rivers, lakes, and glaciers, the Cordillera del Paine is the centerpiece of the park located in-between the Magellanic sub-polar forests and the Patagonian Steppes.

 

Day 15 - Day at Leisure in Torres del Paine

Today you are free to trek or ride horses in the park, or take a boat trip across the lake to see the magnificent Grey glacier.

Perito Moreno Glacier - Days 16 - 18

Day 16 - Travel to Calafate

From Torres del Paine we travel to Calafate, enjoying views over the Patagonian Steppe on the way. In the afternoon there is time to explore the small town or walk by the lake.

 

Day 17 - Perito Moreno Glacier

Full day tour to the incredible Perito Moreno Glacier, a memorable, peaceful site. Walking on the wooden walkways and platforms we will have an excellent view of the glacier, as well as hearing the thunderous sound of large chunks of ice breaking off and falling into the lake (a process known as calving).
