Days 1 - Arrival
Depart from the UK on a direct BA flight, arriving in Lima in the evening. You will be met at the airport by our representative who will take you to your hotel, staying for 2 nights. On arrival you will have an introduction to the local area which is an opportunity for our guide to provide advice, explain your programme, answer any questions you may have.
Day 2 - Lima City Tour
Afternoon tour of the City including the historic centre. Visit the Presidential Palace, Plaza San Martín and the Larco Herrera Museum, with a fabulous collection of ancient artefacts from all over Peru.
Day 3-5 - Amazon Rainforest
Early morning flight to Puerto Maldonado for the Amazon Rainforest. Stay 3 nights at the Reserva Amazonica Jungle Lodge. Daily excursions are organised by your naturalist guide, both along the river tributaries and the paths in the forest spoting for wildlife in the dense tree canopy. Night excursions are also a possibility.
Day 6 - Arrival in the Sacred Valley
Return to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Cusco. On arrival transfer by road down into the stunning Urubamba Valley also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Stay at Sol y Luna Hotel for three nights surrounded by snow-capped mountains and gardens.
Day 7-8 - Sacred Valley Tour
A full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas where we visit the Inca village of Ollantaytambo, Maras & Moray and Pisac market and ruins. Return to your hotel Sol y Luna. The following day is at leisure to explore the countryside.
Day 9 - Machu Picchu by train
Journey on the Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo following the Urubamba River, through beautiful countryside and culminating in the awesome Machu Picchu. You will have a guided tour of the site, afterwards you are free to explore the site further. Overnight at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu hotel located in the village of Aguas Calientes and surrounded by lush vegetation of Sub-tropical rainforest.
Days 10 - Explore Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco
The morning is free to explore. You may wish to climb Huayna Picchu, a steep climb but well worth it for the fantastic views of the valley and a different perspective of Machu Picchu. Alternatively, there is a gentle climb, back along the Inca Trail, to Intipunku the Gate of the Sun, and the first sight one has of the complex if walking the Inca Trail. In the afternoon take the train to Cusco. Spend the next 2 nights at La Casona a converted colonial boutique Hotel.
Day 11 - City tour & Ruins of Cusco
Guided tour of the city and its main attractions. From the city centre we travel into the mountains above Cusco to visit the main ruins in the surrounding area, including the vast site of Sacsayhuaman.
Day 12-14 - Train Journey to Lake Titicaca
Continue by train part of the Orient Express group on an unforgettable journey to Puno on Lake Titicaca, travelling across the Andean altiplano, past striking mountain scenery, small villages, remote farms and stations. Transfer to Titilaka Lodge for 3 nights. This luxury refuge lies on the shores of the Lake Titicaca on a secluded private peninsula. Two full days for excursions on the lake, visit local communities, admire the landscape and rest.
Day 15 - Departure
Transfer to Juliaca to fly to Lima and connect with your overnight flight back home, arriving on Day 16.
