Day 1 - Overnight flight to Buenos Aires
Depart in the evening on an overnight flight to Buenos Aires staying for 2 nights in the centre of the city.
Day 2 - Arrive to Buenos Aires
Day 3 - Tour of the City
We take a morning or afternoon tour of the city, nicknamed the "Paris of South America" for its turn of the century French architecture. We visit La Boca and its brightly coloured houses, the Cathedral, Recoleta and the Presidential Palace.
Day 4 - Day at your Leisure
Further explore the city, experience a tango show or enjoy other optional excursions
Day 5 - Travel to Bariloche
Flight to Bariloche, in Argentina’s Lake District, staying for three nights. This alpine town is surrounded by beautiful mountain contryside with excellent hotels and country lodges.
Day 6 - 7 - Scenic Lakes And Forest Walks
The scenery ranges from lush, snow-covered mountain peaks and beautiful lakes, to the dry Pampa in the lowlands. It is a hub for outdoor activities, horse riding and walking the numerous trails; a wonderful place for picnics on the shore of picturesque lakes.
Day 8 - Andean Lakes & Mountains
Set off in the morning for the trip up over the Andes to cross the border into Chile. The views on either side of the mountains are stunning, and on a clear day you can see all along the mountain chain.
Day 9 - Fly to Punta Arenas, onto Torres del Paine National Park
Depart from Santiago in the morning and fly to Punta Arenas. On arrival transfer to Torres del Paine National Park, for a for 3 night stay.
Day 10 - 11 Trekking in Torres del Paine
Two full days for sightseeing and walks in the park, with buses or treks from 2 to 12 hours. The days in the South American summer, are as long as they are in our summer, so you have plenty of time to explore. We will provide a map to help you plan your days and walks.
At night the sky is fascinating with billions of stars to contemplate.
Day 12 - 15 - Tierra del Fuego Cruise including Cape Horn
Transport to Punta Arenas pier to board the M/V Via Australis or Stella Australis ships for a 4 night cruise through the myriad of islands and channels of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. Visits and excursions include the Straits of Magellan and the Beagle Channel, with a short passage in the open seas to the Cape Horn National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where Atlantic and Pacific oceans meet at the "End of the earth". You will see numerous glaciers at close range, as they descend the mountainside into the sea, and walk through the Magellan Forest to lookout points with stunning views.
Day 16 - Arrive at Ushuaia, fly to Buenos Aires
On arrival at Ushuaia in Argentina, we take a flight to Buenos Aires.
Day 17 - Overnight flight back to UK
Days 12 - 15 - Visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, instead of Australis Cruise in Patagonia
Stay an extra night in Torres del Paine National Park, with an extra day for walking and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. On day 12 make the full day journey across the windswept Patagonia steppe, crossing back into Argentina, arriving in the afternoon in El Calafate and staying for 3 nights on the shore of Lake Argentino. 2 days of excursions will include a trip to the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier, originating in the Southern Patagonian Icefield, and a boat trip along the arms of Lake Argentino, the largest freshwater lake in Argentina, to visit the Upsala and Onelli Glaciers.
