Rio de Janeiro - Days 1 - 3

Day 1 - Departure

Depart on Friday on a daytime flight to Rio de Janeiro, arriving in the evening. You will be met at the airport by our representative who will take you to your hotel in the cosmopolitan beach area of Copacabana, staying for 3 nights. On arrival you will have an introduction to the local area which is an opportunity for our guide to provide advice, explain your programme, answer any questions you may have.


Day 2 - Full Day Tour of Rio de Janeiro

Today you will visit the statue of Christ the Redeemer, perched on Corcovado mountain, granting fabulous views of the city, lagoon and beaches. You will then continue by visiting the historic Royal Palace and Cathedral in the centre of the city.


Day 3 - Rio de Janeiro at Leisure

Day at leisure to explore the city and enjoy the beaches of Rio. There is also a wide choice of optional excursions available, including a tropical islands cruise and a scenic mountain bus ride to the colonial city of Petropolis.

Iguassu Falls - Day 4

Day 4 - Visit Iguassu Falls

Fly to Foz do Iguassu to visit the spectacular waterfalls which are made of numerous smaller falls along a span of 2,470m . Visit the Brazilian side for a panoramic view, then transfer to the Argentinian side, for a perspective from above and walks along the trails. Spend one night at our hotel overlooking the falls.

Buenos Aires - Days 5 - 7

Day 5 - Travel to Buenos Aires

After a morning at leisure to enjoy the forest and views of the falls, you will fly to Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel.


Day 6 - Tour of Buenos Aires

Today you will visit this cultural, cosmopolitan city, dubbed the 'Paris of Latin America'. We pass through the colourful quarter of La Boca, birthplace of the tango, and the main square with the Presidential Palace, finishing at the elegant Parque de Recoleta with its smart bars and street cafés.


Day 7 - Buenos Aires At Leisure

Time at leisure to explore to city on your own, maybe watch a tango show in bohemian San Telmo.

Sucre & Potosí - Days 8 - 11

Day 8 - Fly to Santa Cruz

Fly to Santa Cruz, Bolivia's largest city and stay one night at leisure and have a dinner at one of the many good restaurants.


Day 9 - Tour of Sucre

Fly to Sucre, an attractive, temperate city, with numerous museums and where buildings retain their colonial charm, preserving the traditional white façades. Afternoon tour of the city.


Day 10 - Tarabuco Sunday Market

Full day excursion to Tarabuco market, where locals, dressed in their unique costumes, sit behind pyramids of coca leaves and fruit, whilst others sell their traditional woven goods.


Day 11 - Day-trip to Potosí

The day begins with a journey to Potosí, (4070m). Towering over the city, the Cerro Rico is an imposing, colourful mountain whose stores of precious metals, although seriously depleted, are still mined. An afternoon visit to the old Spanish Mint before returning to Sucre.

La Paz - Days 12 - 13

Day 12 - Fly to La Paz

Transfer to Sucre airport and fly to La Paz, the world's highest capital city, (3,636m), where you stay for 2 nights. A bustling city settled in a large basin, where adobe houses cling precariously to the sheer sides.


Day 13 - City tour La Paz

Our tour of the city follows a maze of streets and alleyways to visit plazas, churches, and the Indian half of the city where the streets are lined with stalls selling wonderful weavings, traditional musical instruments and jewellery, before leading us to the witches' market, where charismatic ladies sell a range of herbs, bottled potions and amulets to cure all illness.

Lake Titicaca - Days 14 - 15

Day 14 - Sun Island

Drive to Lake Titicaca, cross the straits of Tiquina and drive along the lake shore with the snow-capped mountains in the background. Visit the village of Copacabana, Bolivia's main pilgrimage centre and the Calvario hill high above the lake. Afternoon boat trip to Sun Island, walk to your hotel with a panoramic view of the lake. Time to walk and explore, relax and admire Lake Titicaca.


Day 15 - Puno

Morning on Sun Island to walk and explore. In the afternoon continue to Puno on the Peruvian side, staying at our lakeside hotel.

Sacred Valley of the Incas - Days 16 - 17

Day 16 - Andean Explorer Train to Cusco

Board the luxury Andean Explorer Train to Cusco, crossing the dramatic Andean landscape. You will sit at a table by the window, where lunch and afternoon tea will be served, to catch glimpses of small villages and isolated stations, where people wait to sell their wares. On arrival in Cusco, you will be met by our representative and taken to your hotel in the Urubamba Valley "Sacred Valley of the Incas" for 2 nights.


Day 17 - Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour

A full-day excursion in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Drive through the beautiful valley, visiting the ruins of Ollantaytambo, a massive temple fortress, spend time at the Pisac market, where people come from miles around to buy and sell, and enjoy the views from the spectacular site of Pisac ruins.

Machu Picchu - Days 18 -19

Day 18 - Machu Picchu tour

Early transfer to the train station for a stunning journey along the Urubamba River. A glorious trip with fantastic views, culminating in the breath-taking Machu Picchu. Private guided tour of the archaeological site with our local guide.


Day 19 - Machu Picchu at Leisure

Morning free to explore Machu Picchu further or possible climb Huayna Picchu or walk to Intipunku, the Gate of the Sun, at the end of the Inca Trail. Afternoon train back to Cusco, where you will stay for 2 nights.

Cusco - Day 20

Day 20 - Cusco

Full day to explore Cusco including a tour of this marvellous city and ruins in the surrounding area. Beautiful colonial buildings rest upon Inca foundations unchanged over the centuries. Visit the mighty Inca fortress and religious site of Sacsayhuamán, an astounding megalithic structure, whose massive stones, weighing over 100 tons, fit together with incredible perfection.

Lima - Days 21 - 22

Day 21 - Fly to Lima

Morning flight to Lima and transfer to our hotel in the elegant quarter of Miraflores. Afternoon tour, visiting the grand colonial squares and the Larco Herrera Museum, which houses fascinating artifacts from pre-Inca and Inca times.
