Run by: Selective Asia
Reference number: The Philippines: Highlands to Islands
Mention the Philippines and it’s white sand beaches and crystal clear waters that spring to mind. However, there’s more to the country’s natural wonders than its idyllic coastline and our Highlands to Islands itinerary showcases these contrasting landscapes. The first nine days of the trip focuses on the island province of Luzon.
You will spend time in the heart of the mountainous Cordillera region, visiting traditional villages and exploring the ancient rice terraces of Banaue, before heading to Vigan – Luzon’s cultural capital and the best-preserved Spanish colonial town in the country. Your final stop in Luzon is Taal Volcano which is reputed to be the world’s smallest active volcano.
Swapping highlands for islands, the next week is spent in the southern province of Palawan. Spend three nights on Busuanga Island with its rolling hills, before finishing your journey at El Nido which comprises of a cluster of limestone islands that rise dramatically out of the sea.
