A stay at the village of Aldeia da Cuada on the island of Flores offers total escapism and relaxation. Abandoned in the 1960's, when its inhabitants emigrated to America, the Aldeia was restored by Teotonia and Carlos Silva, who combined the rustic style of the past and the modern comfort needs of the present when rennovating the old stone houses. With only the sounds of birds singing and the scent of freshly cut grass and flowers, a holiday at Aldeia offers complete relaxation. The village is now classified by the Regional Government of the Azores as having "cultural heritage with historical, architectural and landscape interest."
