Were based in the fishing village of Postira, a short ferry and bus ride from Split, on the northern shore of Brac Island. Brac is the third largest island in the Croatian archipelago and has the highest peak, Vidova Gora (778m). Centuries ago Brac’s quarries provided the stone for Diocletian’s Palace in Split and for the White House in Washington. Its fields provided olive oil and wine for Venice while its fish, goat and mutton fleshed out the diets of Venetians and locals alike. The fingerprints of history are here in the maze of old goat trails and farm roads that cover the island like a fine net from one end to the other. It is along these trails and roads that we’ll wander discovering sleepy villages, dramatic vistas of grey mountains set against blue seas and green fields overflowing with vines, olives, figs, kiwis, almonds and sour cherries. Postira harbour is the perfect place to watch the sun set at the end of the day.
