Sidmouth The sandstone cliffs change colour with the path of the sun, from brilliant red to burnt umber, contrasting with the lush green sheep-dotted pastures inland and the blue haze of the sea. This is fine rambling country. Sidmouth is ideally sited for wonderful scenic walking both coastal and inland. As well as the 95 mile long Jurassic Coast shoreline there are numerous trails along the Exe and Axe Estuaries, the East Devon Way and many other circular walks. Sidmouth is on the South West Coast Path at the mouth of the Sid Valley between the red rock cliffs of Peak and Salcombe Hills rising 500ft above the village. Walks lead off in all directions; the magnificent cliff top coastal trails; and there are extensive moorland and lowland heath country rich in wildlife to explore and centuries of local history to encounter.
