Guided Walking Holidays - Santorini and Naxos Trek up to the rim of the ancient volcano and drink in the stupendous views over the archipelago. The air smells just a little of smoke and sulphur or are you just imagining it? Experience this journey with Ramblers Walking Holidays. Santorini is itself a mini-archipelago, and the remains of probably the worlds largest and most violent volcanic eruption. Its brilliant white cubist architecture and arid rocky terrain is immediately recognisable. The archipelago is one of Greeces most important wine producers and its crisp, white wines are a perfect€companiment to the tasty meals we enjoy while on the island. Naxos offers green valleys and extensive footpaths that link the villages leading us to the towers and fortified mansions that the island is known for. Well explore the alleyways of Naxos town and discover the dramatic hilltop castle that watches over the village. Fertile volcanic soil means that the island grows abundant crops, which we sample in our menus. You cant get fresher than that! We eat at local tavernas each evening, giving the opportunity to sample traditional, delicious Greek cuisine and wines from the islands.
