Our two cruises are designed to enjoy this snowy wonderland to the full. Experience the winter fjords on foot, on snowshoes and by cable car by day. When the sun sets, the northern lights may display for us, supplying some memorable and magical night time views. SHORE WALKS AND EXCURSION HIGHLIGHTS: lesund - Norways Art Nouveau city, beautifully situated on a peninsula surrounded by mountains and sea. Its low altitude means that the panoramic path above the city is normally clear in winter. Trondheim - The citys great attraction is the Nidaros Cathedral. We have a sightseeing walk around Trondheim and walk the Lade Trail for a short distance along the coast. Troms - Beyond the Arctic Circle, the city traditionally styled as the gateway to the Arctic. We don snow-shoes for a hike with a local guide on the hill of Kvalya over the wonderful wintry landscape, with views of icy mountain peaks and the fjords and open sea beyond. Alta - Beyond the Arctic Circle, we have a double arctic thrill here, taking a dog sled ride and visiting the Ice Hotel. There should also be time to visit the local museum containing information about arctic rock carvings. Narvik - Beyond the Arctic Circle. We drive inland for a guided visit to the Polar Park, the worlds northernmost animal park. It is home to Norways largest predators such as bear, wolves and lynx, as well as deer, moose, reindeer and muskox. They pride themselves on giving the animals a habitat as natural as possible. Kristiansund - A city built very attractively on four islands. We hike from the harbour to Vanndamman Lake and then to the Varden viewpoint. Bod - A little visited port just to the north of the Arctic Circle. We join with a local guide for a snow-shoeing walk through some beautiful scenery. Drinks Inclusive Package: A Drinks Inclusive Package is available for 25 per person per night. The offer includes bar drinks such as wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks (but not cocktails, premium drinks, minibar drinks, room service or events such as an additional afternoon tea visit). Fred.Olsen adopts smart casual dress code: Fred. Olsen has altered its dress code to allow for a smart casual option. There will still be formal nights on selected evenings, but the relaxed dress code will apply on all other nights. This means men can wear open necked shirts, chinos and dark coloured jeans, and women a dress or casual separates.
