Guided Walking Holidays -Mount Toubkal Long Weekend Known fondly as Jebel Toubkal, Mt Toubkal rests at 4167m above sea level and is north Africas highest mountain. Views en route are magnificent but not as spectacular as the High Atlas Panoramic vistas which await when you reach the top. You will pass through a Berber village where you gain an insight into their life in the mountains. With just 5 days in Morocco and three days in the mountains, this is an incredible way to spend a long weekend and what a sense of€complishment when you begin, summit and descend. After your hike you return to buzzing Marrakech with some free time to explore this city, steeped in history and tradition. You can watch the city of Marrakech come alive during the day with street vendors, and how life changes during the evening in buzzing Deemaa-el Fna main square. The air fills with skewers cooking on hot coals, apple flavour shisha wafting from cafes, street entertainers and all manner of sights and sounds. In Marrakech you will stay at the Hotel Almas, which is located in the heart of the animated Gueliz district. The hotel offers an open view over the city and the Atlas Mount from its panoramic sun terrace, an excellent space for relaxation. The hotel has a swimming pool, free Wi-Fi and the usual amenities one would expect. This trip will appeal to those with an interest in culture and whilst this trek is challenging, it is completed over a short time and largely€cessible to most experienced walkers. The ground can be stony but largely the group will follow along mule paths. Whilst this is not a technical hike, during the winter months crampons may be supplied. You should be prepared for a long day on the summit day (8-9 hours). Weather is also a factor and can greatly affect your time on the mountain, so it is good to be prepared for all eventualities. During the summer months it can be dry and hot and you will need to maintain your water intake, there may also be storms during summer months. When there are patches of snow which can happen during the winter months and April/early May, we will supply crampons and a lesson in how to fit and walk in them. It is unlikely you will need them for the entire time if at all.Come experience the majesty of Marrakech, Mount Toubkal, and views of the High Atlas Mountains.
