Guided Walking Holidays - Maria Alm Climb the Hundstein peak with changing perspectives as you walk with Ramblers Walking Holidays. Brilliant views of the peaks and glimpses of marmots, deer and horses along the way. A trip to the amazing gorge at Wiebach. Even an impromptu yodeling session - all memories of Maria Alm which is in the Hochknig region of Austria, in the Salzburgerland close to the border with Germany. The valley is dominated by the rocky peaks of the Hochknig Massif which provide the awesome backdrop for much of the walking in this area. The valley boasts 220 miles of well marked and maintained hiking paths and we cover much of the 45 miles of the Knigsweg long distance trail. The rustic mountain huts provide welcome rest stops, with beer, coffee and apple strudel along the way. Above Maria Alm, the Hundstein peak at 2117m is an€hievable target for strong walkers and presents no technical difficulties. We can explore all the postcard perfect villages along the valley including Hinterthal, Dienten and Mhlbach. Departures on 6 and 13 June are suitable for flower enthusiasts. Walks will be at a more leisurely pace to appreciate the flora.
