Guided Walking Holidays - Experience Thailand Step into the Land of Smiles and discover an enchanting kingdom where the past and present fuse in perfect harmony. Untamed mountains and jungles, home to local hill tribes and a rich array of wildlife, contrast with cities packed full of modern and traditional culture this is Thailand. Our journey begins in the colourful capital city of Bangkok. Impressive modern skyscrapers sit happily alongside ancient shrines and temples; la carte restaurants compete with local food carts and traffic flows alongside traditional long tailed boats sailing down the Chao Phraya River. Youll see the main sights here including the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple as well as doing something a little different. Soak up the atmosphere as you cycle through a lesser known part of the city to see the daily life of the locals and take a long boat canal tour of the most southern district where we stop at a typical flower farm. Another highlight is a full day visit to an organic farm where youll pick your own ingredients and cook four Thai dishes in an antique Thai house, ready to be eaten as part of a Thai lunch feast. We then fly to the city of Chiang Mai, where the pace of life is more relaxed and the lush green countryside of northern Thailand is right on your doorstep. Youll spend a day city sightseeing and then adventure is the order of the next two days. On one day you zip wire from tree to tree through the 1500 year old rainforest of Mae Kompon. Another day will be spent at an elephant nature park where youll learn about the rescued elephants and be able to spend time feeding and bathing them a truly memorable experience! We move on to Thaton by road and visit a Hmong hill tribe village before continuing to Chiang Rai, in the mountainous north. Well take a long tailed boat on the Mae Kok River to a Shan village as well as visiting the local hill tribe school at Akha. We also take a trip to the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. We return to Bangkok for our last night where youll have some free time.
