Guided Walking Holidays - Baltic Discovery The beguiling architecture of the Baltic capitals provides you with a fairy-tale setting in which to roam. From strolling around buzzing cities and quaint cobbled streets to exploring resplendent castles and crumbling fortresses; discovering world-class museums and little-known gems. This remarkable concoction of the old and the new only adds to the magic of this mesmerising region. A cruise around the Baltic Sea is the perfect way to sample the splendours of Europes northern capitals of culture and Baltic scenery. Exploring one distinctive destination after another, with an emphasis on sightseeing, wherever possible we take the opportunity to explore the local countryside beyond the historic capital cities of the Baltics eight proud nations. Our unique shore walks and excursions include: St Petersburg - A city whose golden buildings and treasures leave many people speechless. The view from the Peter and Paul Fortress over the river to The Hermitage is one of the greatest in any city in the world. We visit The Hermitage, Church of The Spilt Blood and St Catherines Palace amongst many great sights. Copenhagen - Home to the Little Mermaid, with colourfully painted canal side houses of Nyhavn and the town of Helsingor, home to the setting of Shakespeares Hamlet. Rnne - Rnne is the largest town on the small rocky island of Bornholm. The Danish town offers a historical charm with its cobblestoned streets and cross-timbered houses. Stockholm - Built on fourteen islands, Stockholm is the perfect place to spend time in the cobbled streets of the old town and the magnificent parklands. Tallinn - Capital of Estonia, Tallinn is an up and coming place, but has a medieval old quarter which is everyones idea of the Middle Ages. Visby - On the Swedish holiday island of Gotland. We take a short countryside walk and visit Visbys walled town with its cobbled streets and roses. Travemnde - We travel inland to the ancient town of Lbeck and with a local guide spend time exploring this 12th century gem boasting more than 1000 historical buildings. Helsinki - A local guide walks us through the city and the Toolonlahti Bay Park. We can also visit the fortress island of Suomenlinna. Riga - Our tour includes Riga Castle, Cathedral and the Powder Tower, the Swedish Gate entrance to the Old Town, gabled houses on Maza Pils Street and the Cat House. Kiel Canal - We sail through the worlds busiest artificial waterway, running for about 60 miles/100km and linking the North Sea with the Baltic. Please note that whilst we overnight in St Petersburg, you may only leave the ship on an organised excursion, unless you have obtained a Russian visa prior to departure. Fred.Olsen adopts smart casual dress code Fred. Olsen has altered its dress code to allow for a smart casual option. There will still be formal nights on selected evenings, but the relaxed dress code will apply on all other nights. This means men can wear open necked shirts, chinos and dark coloured jeans, and women a dress or casual separates. Drinks Inclusive package A Drinks Inclusive Package is available for 25 per person per night. The offer includes bar drinks such as wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks (but not cocktails, premium drinks, minibar drinks, room service or events such as an additional afternoon tea visit).
