From the tropical beaches of Thailand through to the northern tip of Sumatra to Mumbai, we uncover the diversity of this unique sub-continent. Each country showcases their spiritual beginnings, fascinating history, cultures and modern-day life. SHORE WALKS AND EXCURSION HIGHLIGHTS: Phuket, Thailand - With a local guide we take a private speed boat to the Hong Island for sightseeing, sampling local food from the floating Restaurant on Panyee Island, and swim in the calm waters of Pileh. We visit Khao Tapoo Island to explore a James Bond film location (The Man with the Golden Gun) and the delightful town, including a visit to the Sino-Portuguese old building. Sabang, Sumatra - We explore the city before continuing to Anak Laut Lake. A visit to the village of Iboih, adjacent to Rubiah Sea Garden, is followed by some free time at Gapang Beach and a chance to peruse the local market. Colombo, Sri Lanka - After visiting a Hindu Temple, we move on to Beira Lake to visit the classical Buddhist Temple and walk through the magnificent parks and tree shaded streets. We pass the colonial Town Hall, Independence Square and Arcade Building. Lunch is at the Gymkhana Club, originating from 1863, before visiting Pettah, the original bazaar of Colombo. Kochi, India - With a local guide, we proceed to Old Kochi to visit the Fort Kochi area enjoying a heritage walk and the St. Francis Church. We include a visit to the Chinese Nets and to Alleppey for a cruise through the hub of Kochis backwaters, a network of waterways and home to more than a thousand houseboats. Mormugao, Goa - Explore this UNESCO listed city with a local guide, taking a walk through the Fontainhas and the Latin Quarter, visit old Goa and Arch of Viceroy, the Basilica of Bom and the Mangeshi Temple. Before returning to the ship, we visit a spice plantation for the tour of the farm. Mumbai, India - Arriving late afternoon, there is time to relax and to reflect on our journey before spending a full day exploring this bustling city with a local guide. Sights include the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Dhobi Ghat, Colaba Causeway and an Elephanta Cavescruise.
