After flying into Cancun you will be transferred to The Lodge at Chichen Itza, your base for exploring the famous Mayan ruins, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Staying in one of the bungalows built of stone, thatch, wood and native marble is a traditional yet comfortable Mayan affair. The private entrance from the hotel to the ruins ensures you can enjoy the temples at gorgeous sunset and sunrise, avoiding the uncomfortable heat of the middle of the day.

From here you will continue west to Merida a beautiful colonial town filled with colourful character, bustling markets, delicious street food and cultural museums. The largest city of the Yucatan Peninsula, Merida is a fantastic cultural touchstone of Mexico.

While here you will be staying at the Casa Lecanda. With just seven rooms this lavish hotel has the friendly ambience of staying in a traditional Yucatan home and is within walking distance of the many highlights of this vibrant city.

For the last half of your holiday, travel back east to the shimmering turquoise sea and fine soft sand of the Riviera Maya, the coastal highway along the south coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. While here you will be able to unwind on Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita's private beach overlooking the stunning Caribbean Sea, revelling in the tranquillity and romance of this luxury hotel. With many activities and day trips available and organised for you by the friendly and helpful staff, how active or how still you are during your stay at Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita's depends entirely on how your mood and surroundings takes you.

Itinerary

Day 1 Depart London Gatwick for your direct flight to Cancun. From here it is approximately a 2 hour transfer to your base for exploration of the famous Chichen Itza ruins. The Lodge at Chichen Itza features only 39 bungalows decorated in traditional Mayan style. Relax by the swimming pool during the heat of the day or enjoy a spa treatment at Mayaland.

Day 2 From the hotels own private entrance to the ruins you can visit the famous temples at sunrise or sunset to avoid the heat of the day. Chichen Itza means 'Mouth of the well of the water-sorcerer' and the site covers 5sq km's. The major buildings in the north half display a Toltec influence and is dominated by El Castillo, the most famous image of this new Wonder of the World.

Day 3 Continue west to the colonial town of Merida and the luxurious Casa Lecanda. With just 7 individual rooms, the building retains a feel of a traditional Yucatecan home. Located in the historic centre of Merida, the hotel is just 2 blocks from the Paseo Montejo and the highlights of the city.

Day 4 Private city tour to explore the historic centre of the city of Merida. including the main plaza (zocalo), markets, Museum "Gran Museo del Mundo Maya", the Cathedral, the Monumento a la Patria (Monument to the Fatherland) and Paseo Montejo which is designed based on french boulevards. Free afternoon to spend in the city. If you would like to visit the nearby ruins of Uxmal & Kabah we recommend an extra night in Merida.

Day 5 Transfer by road to the Riviera Maya. Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita, is a luxurious, adults only resort located on its own private powder white beach. With just 90 elegantly appointed beachfront this resort is widely recognised as one of Mexico's most exceptional. Well known for it's cuisine, the 3 restaurants offer gourmet dining with La Canoa winning many awards.

Day 6 Free days to relax and enjoy the host of activities available at the resort. These include tennis, ping pong, kayaking, sailing, snorkelling, wind surfing. For the less active who prefer to relax, there are yoga classes and the Spa which boasts the first Thalassotherapy centre in North America. You may also wish to explore the nearby ruins of Tulum & Coba to complete your Mayan experience.
