A 12-day tour that showcases the best of Brazil's cultural and natural highlights. Start your Brazil holiday in the iconic city of Rio de Janiero. With its beautiful dramatic setting of undulating mountains covered in lush greenery to the stark expanses of bare rock this is perhaps one of the most spectacular backdrops in the world. Add in imposing Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain, conical Sugar Loaf Mountain and the famous Copacabana Beach for a magical start to your holiday. A short flight south is the magnificent Iguazu Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. With 275 separate falls over nearly 2 miles they showcase the meeting of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. The largest of the falls, the Devils Throat is truly breathtaking. From the Atlantic forest at Iguazu move onto the lush tropical rainforest of the Amazon. Stay 3 nights at an eco-lodge a short distance from the gateway of Manaus where you will experience the diversity of the flora and fauna just outside your room. Finally, complete your Brazil holiday with a short stay in the charming, historic city of Salvador. The centre, Pelourinho is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, awash with colourful buildings and cobbled streets. Classic Brazil really does encompass all the must-do sites in this diverse country. The diversity of destinations showcased in our Classic Brazil holiday is ideal for older children, particularly those interested in history and wildlife. 

Itinerary

Day 1 Fly from the UK to Rio de Janeiro either on a daytime or overnight flight.

Day 2 Arrive in the morning and transfer to the Windsor Miramar overlooking Copacabana Beach. Free time in the afternoon to relax into the Brazilian vibe and enjoy your first taste of a caipirinha by the beach.

Day 3 Full-day jeep tour visiting Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado Mountain and taking in Sugar Loaf Mountain in the afternoon. The views looking over Rio and its beaches and bays are stunning and provide a vast array of photo opportunities. You will also get the opportunity to visit Tijuaca forest which gives a great feel of the tropical vegetation in the interior along with some great walking trails.

Day 4 Spend the day as you choose – relax on the beaches, or arrange further sightseeing locally. Visit the botanical gardens, the historic area of Santa Teresa with its cobbled streets and try the local 'feijoada' dish!

Day 5 Transfer to the airport for the short flight to Igauzu Falls and transfer to the Bourbon Cataratas set is lush tropical surroundings and just a 20 minutes drive from the national park entrance and a short distance from the town.

Day 6 Full day private excursion to explore the Argentine side of the falls including the viewpoint for the impressive Devil’s Throat. Take in these majestic falls from a variety of vistas from the extensive walkways. We can also arrange a boat trip to the base of the falls - you will get wet!

Day 7 Transfer to the airport for the flight via Sao Paulo to Manaus, the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon. Stay for three nights at the Amazon Eco-Park, around one hour from the city on the banks of the Taruma River. Aside from being a comfortable lodge, the Amazon Eco-Park also operates as a scientific and educational establishment.

Day 8 Two full days to enjoy the excursions provided by the lodge and explore this unique ecosystem. Take a tour at sunrise or sunset the rainforest is particularly active, try fishing for piranha, visit a native village and take the classic 'Meeting of the Waters' excursion.

Day 9

Day 10 Depart from your Amazon Lodge for the airport and connect to your flight to Salvador on the coast. Spend two nights at Casa do Amarelindo located in the historic Pelourinho district of the city

Day 11 Free time to explore this vibrant city which is full of African and European culture. Most visitors will spend their time in the Pelourinho area which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This was the area that the Portuguese built as a fortified city and displays some of the most important colonial architecture in the Americas.

Day 12 Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK via via Lisbon. Alternatively we can extend your trip by a few days for beach relaxation.
