From: £6650.00

From your base at Kenya's Governors' Private Camp, sat in a forested area beside the Mara River, follow in the footsteps of the Big Cat Diary film crews who used the luxury tented camp as a base for a decade, on a wildlife spotting photography safari through the Masai Mara.

This tour is led by professional photographer and BBC wildlife documentary cameraman, Warren Samuels, who has filmed for the Big Cat Diary series', Human Planet, Truth about Lions and Secret Life of Elephants during his career. He'll be on hand every day to seek out the best locations for a big cat encounter and use his expertise in the field to position the vehicle for the best lighting and composition for great images, and can help to develop your skills with the use of your own DSLR or video camera.

All dates are 7 night itineraries.

Itinerary

Day 1 Depart from London Heathrow on your overnight flight to Nairobi.

Day 2 Early morning arrival, transfer to the domestic airport to catch a short flight to the Masai Mara and transfer to Governors' Private Camp. Settle into your private tent in Governors' Camp in the premier game-viewing area of the Masai Mara. Only a century ago, it was reserved for the exclusive use of Kenya’s colonial governors; and Governors’ has hosted the Big Cat film crew for over a decade.

Day 3 Spend 7* nights at the Governors' Private Camp with Warren Samuels. Embark on daily game drives in a shared 4wd vehicle through the Masai Mara National Park with Warren, exploring areas in which he has worked for many years and knows the best spots offering a good chance of getting up close to the magnificent wild big cat families. Having worked as a guide as well as a cameraman, Warren has a unique knack for understanding and interpreting the big cat behaviour and is often able to get closer to the animals than other guides, predicting when excellent photographic opportunities might arise. Make use of his expertise and learn to take better photographs or film with your own equipment, as Warren offers photographic tutorials and workshops and can teach you to improve your DSLR or video skills. Watch as Warren and his colleagues expertly track big cats and manoeuvre the safari vehicles into the optimum positions for photographic lighting and composition, giving you the best foundation from which to take first class images. Of course, the team will always be on the lookout for other big game and park wildlife to capture on film during your safari drives. *All dates are 7 night itineraries.
