From the border with Afghanistan we travel through the highlights of the Silk Road visiting Tashkent and Samarkand, before getting out in to the wilderness in Kazakhstan. We visit the ex Capital City of Almaty and then enter the wilds of Kyrgyzstan, taking an epic journey around Lake Issy Kul before ending our journey in Bishkek. Days 1 to 4 Tajikistan
We leave the Capital, Dushanbe.
Termez, border town with Afghanistan
Bukhara - an important stop on the Silk Rd of old & home to over 350 mosques & 100 Islamic colleges.
Days 5 to 8 Kyzylkum Desert - beauty & harshness in one.
Samarkand - as old as Babylon, view the beauty of the Registan, medressas & mosques.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital
Days 9 to 14 Kazakhstan
Aksu-Dzhabagly Nature Reserve – green valleys, wildlife and snow capped peaks!
Time to explore this southern corner of Kazakhstan.
Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest metropolis
Days 15 to 20 Kyrgyzstan
Lake Issyk-Kul - a massive mountain lake with magnificent scenery & loads of€tivities to choose from.
Karakol/Jeti Orguz Region - hiking into the surrounding Terskay Ala-Too Mountains.
Days 21 to 22 Kyrgyzstan
