Luang Prabang - Kamu Lodge - Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng - Vientiane - Kong Lor - Champasak
In Luang Prabang, an entire town designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Laos has one of Southeast Asia's most magical and exotic destinations. Beyond these golden pagodas, however, Laos is little-known and often overlooked. We think this makes it an ideal time to visit, whilst its many attractions are lacking the crowds that more familiar Asian destinations attract.
Following the course of the Mekong River, from the ancient capital Luang Prabang, our overland journey takes us south through modern Vientiane to the southern region of Champasak, where the river fragments into a myriad tributaries that form the 4,000 Islands that give the region its name.
Along the route head deep into the jungle to Kong Lor, one of the world's largest caves, navigable by underground river; explore the Angkorian ruins at Wat Phou; go in search of the elusive Irrawaddy River dolphin, and absorb the magnificence of Laos natural scenery at Vang Vieng. This land of saffron-clad monks, elephants and mighty rivers captivates all who take the time to visit - we look forward to introducing it to you!
