Itinerary Summary...

Designed with the first time visitor in mind, our 14-day Classic Sri Lanka tour explores the island’s highlights without rushing through. It also aims to avoid the crowds.

Daily Itinerary...

Day 1 | Overnight flight to Colombo.

Day 2 | This morning / afternoon you will arrive into Colombo where you will be met by your private chauffeur guide and vehicle. From here you will be directly driven to the ancient city of Sigiriya, in Sri Lanka's 'Cultural Triangle'.

Day 3 | Today you will enjoy a guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. The ancient remains of Sigiriya sit atop a giant rock; it's a bit of a climb so we recommend getting up nice and early to avoid the heat.

Day 4 | You will head south today via The Golden Temple of Dambulla, Sri Lanka's most exquisite cave temple. You will arrive in Kandy mid-afternoon so you can have time to relax this afternoon. Later on you will visit The Temple of the Tooth.

Day 5 | This morning you will experience our Tour of Kandy. Later this afternoon you will visit the luminous and beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens.

Day 6 | This morning your guide will take you to the train station where you will board your train, which will take you into the glorious tea country. The train journey normally takes around 3.5hrs and is a real highlight in Sri Lanka as you pass through villages and soaring hills.

Day 7 | Today you will walk through Horton Plains National Park, a wild expanse of land with some of Sri Lanka's most incredible views, including 'World's End'.

Day 8 | You will leave the tea country today and will head south to Yala National Park, visiting Ella en route.

Day 9 | Today you will enjoy a morning jeep safari and an afternoon jeep safari in Yala National Park. Hopefully you will see a leopard and some wild elephants.

Day 10 | Today you will rise early to enjoy bird watching in Bundala National Park, also home to wild elephant. You will continue directly from here onto Galle, the 17th century fort and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hopefully you will get to see stilt fishermen en route.

Day 11 | Today is completely at leisure. If you are visiting between December and April you may want to enjoy our Whale Watching Boat Trip, as this area attracts both blue and sperm whales. This is an incredible opportunity to see these marvellous creatures.

Day 12 | Enjoy today at leisure.

Day 13 | Enjoy today at leisure.  If you are interested in food you might enjoy our Culinary Tour of Galle Fort or our cycling tour in the local countryside.

Day 14 | This morning you will be driven from Galle back up to Colombo Airport for your flight home. This journey should take just 2.5hrs.
