Day 1 Kota Kinabalu
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Kota Kinabalu/Mount Kinabalu (1B, 1D)
Travel to Mt Kinabalu. Opt to hike the nature trails, or enjoy an excursion to Poring hot springs and a canopy walk with some free time.
Day 3 Mount Kinabalu (1B, 1L, 1D)
Head off to conquer Mt Kinabalu. During the first day’s climb to Laban Rata, enjoy a packed lunch on the way. The hike can take from 5-7 hrs. Indulge in a buffet-style dinner then rest up for an early start to summit the mountain in the morning.
Day 4 Mount Kinabalu/Kota Kinabalu (1B, 1L)
Summit Mt Kinabalu (3-5hrs) and arrive in time for sunrise. Return to Laban Rata for a rest and to the park headquarters for lunch. Transfer back to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 5 Kota Kinabalu/Gunung Mulu National Park (1B)
Fly to Mulu via Miri and transfer to the lodge. Head into the park for a walk through the forest and explore Deer Cave. In the evening go on a walk in search of bats hunting for insects.
Day 6 Gunung Mulu National Park (1B, 1L, 1D)
Depart the lodge, board a longboat and travel along the Melinau River to the Wind and Clearwater caves. Explore the caves, take a dip in the crystal clear waters, and enjoy a picnic lunch in the rainforest. Continue by longboat to Kuala Litut and start the trek through dense jungle to Camp 5, our stop for the night.
Day 7 Headhunters Trail/Limbang (1B, 1L, 1D)
Set out on the Headhunters Trail, an 11 kilometre trail through Borneo’s dense jungle. Trek past streams and caves, all while hearing the sounds of the thousands of species that call this jungle home. Learn about the rich history of the warring parties that created this trail before arriving at Kuala Terikan where you will board a boat down the river to Limbang.
Day 8 Limbang/Pulau Tiga (1B, 1D)
Start off early for a busy day of travel – by ferry, boat, and private vehicle – to the tropical island of Pulau Tiga. After arriving on the island head out on a trek to a mud volcano and learn more about the region.
Day 9 Pulau Tiga (1B, 1L, 1D)
Enjoy a free day on this tropical paradise. Opt to go snorkelling, kayaking, or visit Snake Island.
Day 10 Pulau Tiga/Kota Kinabalu (1B)
After breakfast, depart for Kuala Penyu by boat where you will transfer to a private vehicle and continue to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 11 Kota Kinabalu/Kota Belud (1B, 1L, 1D)
Travel to Tambatuon village and meet the local community. Visit a local farm and gather fresh ingredients for an included cooking class. After lunch, trek to a nearby river, exploring the landscape surrounding the village along the way. This evening enjoy a traditional dinner with your hosts.
Day 12 Kota Belud/Sungai Kinabatangan (1B, 1L, 1D)
Travel towards Sandakan and continue to the jungle lodge on the Kinabatangan River, Sabah’s longest. After settling in head out for a river safari. After dinner, opt for a guided night walk through the jungle.
Day 13 Sungai Kinabatangan (1B, 1L, 1D)
Begin the day with a river safari in search of wildlife. After breakfast, visit the nearby oxbow lake with a professional guide and seek out proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, macaques, and gibbons. Enjoy another boat cruise along the river to spot more wildlife before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Day 14 Sungai Kinabatangan/Sepilok (1B)
Depart in the morning and travel to Sepilok. Enjoy a visit to the orangutan rehabilitation centre and the adjacent sun bear conservation centre.
Day 15 Sepilok/Pulau Libaran (1B, 1L, 1D)
Transfer to Sandakan and continue to Libaran Island by boat. Take a guided tour of the island’s turtle hatchery and learn about the turtle conservation program. Opt to go snorkelling or kayaking with some free time.
Day 16 Pulau Libaran/Kota Kinabalu (1B)
After breakfast, depart Libaran Island and travel back to the Sandakan jetty. From the jetty, transfer to Sandakan airport for a flight to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 17 Kota Kinabalu (1B)
