Sydney, Melbourne, Fraser Island, the Whitsundays — your crash course in all things Australia starts now. For 25 days, you’ll head up the East Coast (and participate in wine tastings, surf lessons, and maxi yacht sailing), fly to Alice Springs, then go down south to Kings Canyon, Uluru, and Adelaide, just to name a few destinations. The Great Ocean Road will eventually lead you to Melbourne, and a wide variety of€commodations and transport along the way will keep things exciting. Day 1 Sydney
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Sydney
Enjoy a free day to explore Sydney. Opt to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, hop on a jet boat ride through the harbour, or chill out at Bondi Beach.
Day 3 Sydney/Tamworth (1B, 1D)
Travel to the Hunter Valley for a wine tasting before continuing on to Tamworth for a taste of Australian country living.
Day 4 Tamworth/Yamba (1B)
Travel over the Great Dividing Range to Yamba, a quaint beach town. Go for a swim at the beach, relax, and enjoy the view.
Day 5 Yamba/Byron Bay (1B)
Continue up the coast to Byron Bay, an alternative hippie paradise. Hit the beach and enjoy an included surf lesson.
Day 6 Byron Bay
Enjoy free time to hit the beach, get a massage, or try sea kayaking.
Day 7 Byron Bay/Brisbane (1B)
Travel north, and opt for a night out in Queensland’s capital.
Day 8 Brisbane/Fraser Island (1B, 1L)
Travel by private bus, private 4x4 and ferry to reach Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island. Explore the island by 4x4.
Day 9 Fraser Island/Noosa Everglades (1B)
Enjoy a morning of exploring by 4x4 to hit the remainder of Fraser Island’s highlights, then set off to the Noosa Everglades for an evening surrounded by stunning wilderness.
Day 10 Noosa Everglades/Airlie Beach (1L)
Go canoeing along the calm waters of the Noosa Everglades before hopping an overnight train north to Airlie Beach.
Day 11 Airlie Beach/Whitsunday Islands (1D)
Embark on a 3-day maxi yacht sailing adventure. Enjoy beach visits, island bush walks, and time to snorkel the reefs. Anchor off of secluded tropical islands at night.
Day 12 Whitsunday Islands (1B, 1L, 1D)
Hike to an island lookout over Whitehaven Beach, known for its stunning white sand, then enjoy free time on the famous beach. Anchor off of a secluded tropical island at night.
Day 13 Whitsunday Islands/Airlie Beach (1B)
Continue sailing through the gorgeous backdrop of the Whitsunday Islands. Sail to the resort town of Airlie Beach for a night on the town.
Day 14 Airlie Beach/Cairns
Admire the scenery on the train north to Cairns.
Day 15 Cairns
Enjoy a free day to visit the Great Barrier Reef or get the adrenaline pumping by whitewater rafting or bungee jumping. Cap it all off with a Big Night Out in Cairns.
Day 16 Cairns/Alice Springs (1B)
Fly to Australia’s interior and transfer to the hostel.
Day 17 Alice Springs/Uluru
Depart early and travel to the Red Centre. Hike the awe-inspiring Kings Canyon (seasonal) before continuing on to Uluru.
Day 18 Uluru (1B, 1D)
Visit an Aboriginal culture centre and enjoy the informative Mala Walk at Uluru. Catch the sunset over Uluru with a glass of bubbly in hand. Camp under the stars of the night sky—the only way to really experience the Outback.
Day 19 Uluru/Coober Pedy (1B)
Travel to the town of Coober Pedy, the world’s opal mining capital. After a guided tour of a mine, escape the heat like the locals by spending the night underground.
Day 20 Coober Pedy/Flinders Ranges (1B, 1D)
Admire the Outback while travelling to the Flinders Ranges for the night.
Day 21 Flinders Ranges/Adelaide (1B)
Explore the Flinders Ranges before travelling to Adelaide. Enjoy a wine tasting in the Clare Valley along the way.
Day 22 Adelaide
Enjoy a free day to discover Adelaide. Opt to go on a dolphin-spotting cruise (seasonal), or check out more wineries.
Day 23 Adelaide/Halls Gap (1B)
Set off early and travel inland to Grampians National Park, known for its sandstone mountain range and impressive rock art. Trek through the forest, lush with vegetation and wildlife.
Day 24 Halls Gap/Port Campbell (1B)
Enjoy an early morning walk in Grampians NP and visit an Aboriginal cultural centre (time permitting). Stop for a visit to the Arch along the Great Ocean Road.
Day 25 Port Campbell/Melbourne (1B)
Travel along the Great Ocean Road. Visit Loch Ard Gorge and the 12 Apostles, then travel past world-famous surf beaches. Walk through the rainforest in Great Otway National Park. Tour ends upon arrival to Melbourne in the evening.
