Seville & Cordoba
Several days are spent relaxing and enjoying the sights of the Moorish cities of Seville and Cordoba - two of Spain's most beautiful cities. Cordoba's Mosque (the Mezquita) dates back to around 786AD - spacious and grand, its great doors and interior are strikingly decorated. There's time to explore the old quarter, perhaps sampling tapas or the local sherry. We visit Seville's Alcazar, the palace fortress of the Arab Kings, and there is the chance to visit the Cathedral - the largest Gothic building in the world.
Cazorla & Granada
We reach the cliff-hung Andalucian town of Cazorla by road, our base for the next three days. Situated on the edge of the dramatic Sierra de Cazorla nature reserve, this protected region is sliced by vertical mountains (over 1980m) and draped with coniferous forests and alpine plants. We then head to Granada to see the marvellous decorative art of the Alhambra and the Generalife, the summer residence of the Caliph.
Ronda & Grazalema
Taking the train across the highlands, we arrive in Ronda, a picturesque town divided in to old and new by the iconic El Tajo Gorge. Finally, we spend time in the beautiful Pueblo Blanco of Grazalema, resting in a glorious national park where walking is possible.
