Beijing to Xian
Our introduction to China begins with the bustling capital, Beijing. There is a chance to visit the famous Tiananmen Square and explore the maze of palaces and gardens that make up the adjoining Forbidden City. We travel out of the city to Mutianyu where we walk on one of the most impressive sections of the Great Wall. Travelling across China by train we arrive in Xian which was once the starting point of the famous Silk Road. The highlight of our time in Xian is a visit to the Terracotta Warriors. The site contains several thousand life-size models of warriors, horses and chariots - many made of bronze or leafed in gold - all buried to protect the Qin dynasty emperors in the after world.
Yangtze River Cruise & Chengdu
Joining our cruise boat we spend three days soaking up the stunning landscapes of the Yangtze River. We have the opportunity to visit the Three Gorges Dam Project and the ghost town at Fendgu before we pass through the spectacular 'Three Gorges'. After taking the train to Chengdu we visit the lovable pandas at the Panda Research Centre. The centre is home to over a dozen Giant Pandas who roam freely.Â
Yangshou & Shanghai
Explore the karst scenery, rivers and villages of Yangshou. The best way to explore this riverside town is by bike. Ending in China's most cosmopolitan city, Shanghai, there is free time to explore the historic buildings of 'The Bund', the Yu Yuan gardens or even take a cruise on the Huangpu River.
