Guatemala & Honduras
From the picturesque colonial centre of Antigua we journey in the shadow of mighty volcanoes to Lake Atitlan where we experience the lively and unpronounceable Chichicastenango market - a real treat for the senses. Crossing the border into Honduras, we explore the spectacular Mayan site of Copan - hidden for centuries amongst the dense rainforest in this part of Central America.
El Salvador & Pacific coast
Amongst El Salvador's forest-clad hills and nestled on the heel of Suchitlan Lake, lies the unassuming yet charming colonial town of Suchitoto. With a couple of nights here you are free to explore the local area, perhaps taking a wildlife spotting boat trip on the lake. Continuing onto Nicaragua we explore the colonial centres of Leon and Granada before taking some time out to relax on the sandy beaches of Nicaragua's relatively undeveloped Pacific Coast.
Costa Rica rainforest
Crossing into Costa Rica we head to the seasonal wetlands of Ca?o Negro, famous for their amazing biodiversity. Here we walk amongst the vegetation hoping for sightings of the many birds, monkeys, reptiles and lizards living there. We then continue on to Sarapiqui where we stay in a tented lodge, surrounded by the sights and smells of the jungle, before travelling to San Jose.
